His wings were spread wide as he glided through the forested valleys and around the rearing mountains. The wilderness outside of town was breathtaking, even after living there for over a year, he could still be impressed with it.
Tobias swung into a slow spiral as he spotted the vale he was heading towards, hidden from outside eyes, and protected in ways he still didn't understand. He had to hand it to the Ellimist, this was something real good he did. As he got closer, the forms of the free horkbajir became very clear, expessially to his eyes. And while he still couldn't tell most of them apart, The one he was searching for would be easy to spot once she was in his sight. The intellegence in his namesake seemed to stand out when put in a Hork Bajir.

Toby and a group of free Hork-Bajir had just returned from a raid, their blades were stained with blood of those who they'd been forced to fight. Unconscious Hork-Bajir-Controllers were now tied to trees. Their Yeerks were going to be starved out of them.
Toby was concerned. She'd heard one of the Hork-Bajir mention a "Project Seer". This might mean that the yeerks were researching the Seer gene. If a Hork-Bajir with the intelligence of a Seer were infested the Yeerks would probably have an edge in the fight.
Toby saw a bird in the sky descending upon the valley. She knew who it was without thinking. As he came closer she wave a bloody bladed arm out to him. He couldn't hear her yet, he wasn't close enough but she waited.

Toby and her group were easy to spot and he came in fast, gliding to a stop on a branch a dozen feet away or so. His eyes may have been focused on Toby, but he took in everything around her in great detail. < Hey Toby. Just came by for a breather. Is there, uh...something going on I should know about? > He didn't like getting caught unawares, and this didn't look good.

Toby smiled at Tobias. She liked talking to him though at the time she wasn't in a very good mood. At least she'd be able to speak to him and tell him what she was worried about. "Hello Tobias," she said intelligently. "It is good to see you." We just returned from a raid on a Yeerk facility. Their defenses. This is our last raid because the Yeerks have finished the construction of the facility. I heard some of them speaking about 'avian' and some 'Project Seer'. I think they are doing experiments on Hork-Bajir there." She sighed. It was a lot to stomach. She wanted to do something but knew the security would be too tight after tonight.

His eyes stared unblinkingly flicked from the tied Hork Bajir to the Free ones with bloodied blades and back to Toby.
< No offense Toby, but do you think raiding a yeerk facility without informing us is a good idea? You could be followed, and if the Valley is revealled, well you know what happens then. None of us want that, and Jake may not approve of your raids, but at least we can prevent any unwanted guests. >
He ruffled his feathers a bit while he steadied himself on his perch. < Avian and Seer? Avian seems simple enough, something with birds, but a Yeerk can't use a bird as a host, unless thats what they're trying to do, to who knows what end. What's this Seer project though? How do the yeerks know about Seers and why would what would they do if they knew anyway? >

Toby sighed, she didn't want to go through this. Thankfully Tobias was understanding about this sort of thing. "I didn't tell you because I didn't want Jake to ask about the location of the base because he'd want to attack it and kill many Hork-Bajir who could be saved." She was right. As much as she trusted the Animorphs she didn't trust them about this.
She pondered what Tobias had said. "They could manipulate them into hosts using biotechnology. I've seen the Yeerks do that before." she told him and her eyes darted to one of the tied up Hork-Bajir, he was larger than the others. He was a sub-visser, it had been just luck they'd found him.
She had a fair idea about the Seer Project. "Well all Hork-Bajir know about Seers. Hork-Bajir who are different, many know about the story of Aldrea and Dak Hamee. It's for sure the Yeers would want to replicate the gene."

Tobias was confused. Thankfully it doesn't translate well as a hawk. < Why would they want to replicate it? That would just create more Hork Bajir Seers. As it is Hork Bajir are some of their perfect hosts, Deadly, strong, and easy to control. The only issue is that there aren't enough of you for the Yeerks needs. If they began turning Hork Bajir into Seers, they'd lose that easy to control part. You would mentally be able to fight back, and that could prove disastrous for them. Look what you've done. One Seer free has caused a good amount of havoc. Think about if you captured a couple more Seers, or if they began fighting the yeerks in their brains. >
Tobias shook his head as he looked over the the tied Hork Bajir and back to Toby. < I could understand trying to elliminate the Gene, but replicate it? To what end? >

Toby shrugged. "I don't know why they'd want to. Both of your points are valid, but maybe they want to make smarter Hork-Bajir hosts since the Yeerks inside of the Hork-Bajir usually seem impaired in cognative ability." She sighed. "We will find out eventually. We have captured a sub-visser, would you want to speak with him?"

Tobias stared at Toby for a moment considering her words. < I never noticed any impaired ability. As far as we know about yeerks, the mental abilities of the host have no bearing on the Yeerk's intellegence within, but its not like any of us are experts on yeerk physilogy, except maybe Erek, who knows? But yeah, I'd like to speak to the sub-visser. I just wish I'd aquired Ax beforehand or something, it'd make interrigations better. But I'll take the next best thing. >
He spread his wings and hopped off the branch gliding nearly directly down onto the ground. Though Hawks were fairly poor on the ground, he was used to it now, since nearly all morphs required you to be standing. He may not have had the experience that the others did with morphing, but he was a quicker learner in some respects. Of course, he had been taught the harsher lessons early on.
Tobias closed his eyes and began concentrating on the DNA floating within him. Slowly at first and then faster he began to grow, shooting up from the ground until he was near 3 feet in height. At that point his feathers began to melt together, but not all of them. Some instead pointed outward from his body, becoming hard and sharp. The muscles on his wings thickened as the wings elongated into arms. His already scaled feet and talons grew thicker, larger. Another growth spurt hit him, sending his head above Toby's. The last thing to come in was the powerful tail, bladed like the rest of the body. When he opened his eyes, They were Ket's,; Toby's mother's. < So, lets go meet the wizard, shall we Dorthey? >

"The Yeerks say that," Toby pointed out. "It does not mean it is true." She watched Tobias morphing Ket Halpak who was her mother. Ket was in a tree nearby stripping and eating bark, she had given Tobias permission to use her morph long ago. Toby didn't really want to interrogate the sub-visser the way she inferred Tobias was considering but she put that in the back of her mind, she didn't have time for formalities. It was one or many.
She didn't know who "Dorthey" was, she said, "I am Toby not Dorthey," blinking her red Hork-Bajir eyes as she led him to the cave where the sub-visser was tied up. He was a Hork-Bajir-Controller and he was guarded by three free Hork-bajir who had him tied up taut against a thick cut down tree trunk in the middle of the cave, his head was hanging low. It was for kandrona starvation, don't harm or starve the host but wait three days and starve the Yeerk out.
OOC: Jamie/Esplin said she'd play the sub-visser. B-)

A young Hork-Bajir named Bela Notur, the daughter of Kama Notur and Rak Lomon, was bored with just sitting around in the valley. She'd explored every part, and knew where to get the best bark. She wanted to try the bark outside of the valley. She was hungry for bark, but no normal bark.
And so, when her parents and the other Hork-Bajir were not looking, she snuck off. She breached that barrier, and scrambled through the woods toward human civilization. Each time she saw a tree she'd never seen before, she climbed it, stripping the bark and tasting it. Some she liked, some she didn't.
OOC: Yeah, and now for the shmexy sub-visser. ^^ NPC, but I'm going to do his feelings. <3 Hork-Bajir-Controllers.
Simess 782 barely looked up as they entered. His beak hung open, and his head was drooped. He knew he'd die; there was no fate worse than Kandrona starvation.
His host was a strapping male Hork-Bajir with taut muscles, large for his age. A Greenish band was strapped to his shoulder, with his sub-visserial rankage embroidered upon it. He was a Green band and a sub-visser, part of the first wave that had arrived from the Hork-Bajir planet. Visser Five would be arriving soon, and, soon, the free Hork-Bajir would not be able to make their way through the facility.
He raised his head, and smiled a c0cky smile. "You are fools," he said. "You will learn nothing from me. I already know what fate awaits me. No torture is worse than that, but I know I will be starved of Kandrona rays...but I serve Visser Five to the death." He struggled with his restraints. He so wanted to salute his visser, even being bound up, in front of these free Hork-Bajir which disgusted him more than Andalites. For he was devoutely loyal, and would do anything for the sake of Visser Five. Anything...
For Green bands had been taught to be this way.

Tobias grinned, or at least did his best job of one. < That may be so Sub Visser. No pain we inflict on you will be as bad as that your starvation will cause. However we can end it quickly, giving you a painless death instead of long drawn out one. Either way we will get the information we want. When you die, your host will survive and we'll know all that it knows. You are only delaying the enevitable at your own expense. > Tobias moved up to the subvisser so that he was only a foot from his face, staring in in the eyes. < I would even go so far as promising that the life of Visser 5 will be spared if you tell us what we want to know, otherwise, when we Andalites ruin this plan of yours, we won't be so merciful. >
