The thermals weren't great today...or rather Tobias wasn't in the mood to fly them. His heart and mind were elsewhere at the moment; on his past and what it meant.
Landing on a branch of an old oak just outside the school where he had briefly been a student, Tobias pulled himself from his introspection and looked around the grounds. School was still in session, so it was pretty empty out here, not even a passerby to read the watch of.
Spreading his wings he took off from the tree, landing on another just outside of a classroom, where he had a good view of the interior. lots of students, all paying more or less attention to the Professor near the Chalkboard. Tobias recognized the man as an english teacher, though he couldn't remember his name.
After five minutes of watching and reading lips, he spread his wings and flew back to the front of the school. Wow, that had been boring, how could anyone make Slaughterhouse 5 seem so ordinary? For a second he wondered why he'd chosen not to spend the day with Ax, but that answered itself quite simply: Days of Our Lives seemed to kill more brain cells than anything else he could do.
<We had to get an Alien with a Soap Opera Addiction...> He muttered to himself.
And that was when he saw it out of the corner of his eye; a blackbird, landing in a tree nearby. He looked around quickly for its friends, but found none. His stomach growled. <Hmm...a loner. Should be easy enough.>
Taking into the air caught the Black birds attention and it did the same as it let out a caw. However it didn't get very far as Tobias swooped down, digging his talons into the flesh between its wings. Its head swiveled, snapping at his leg, taking a small bit of flesh, but that only caused Tobias to tighten his hold on the flailing bird. Straining against the extra weight and movement, he managed to bring it up to the branch he'd been on earlier, making a rough landing. It almost managed to pull free, but Tobias shot his head down, his beak snapping its neck, the blackbird becoming limp instantly. <Lunch is served.>
A few black feathers floated down from the tree, landing on the sidewalk below.
